Celviano Kiera 48" Carved Oak Antique Grey Bench

Celviano started with a dare. What happens when you take a frame that belongs in a 19th century French salon and upholster it in something that belongs in a contemporary art gallery? The answer, it turns out, is one of the most interesting benches we have ever made.

The frame is Antique Grey White Oak, hand carved with the full vocabulary of French provincial woodwork. Turned spindle backrest. Scrolled armrests with acanthus leaf detailing. Fluted, tapered legs terminating in classic toupie feet. Rosette medallions at each corner where the seat rail meets the leg. None of this is applied or glued on. It is carved from the oak itself, which means every curve, every flute, every spindle is structural as well as decorative.

The antique grey finish is layered, not flat. Darker in the crevices of the carving, lighter on the raised surfaces, giving the frame a patina that reads as genuinely aged rather than artificially distressed. It is the kind of finish that takes longer to get right than the carving itself.

The seat is Ply & Foam Upholstery in a split pattern, half bold polka dots, half graphic stripes, both in black and white. The fabric choice is deliberately confrontational. It takes everything the frame promises about tradition and flips it sideways. The result is a piece that feels both inherited and invented at the same time.

At 48" x 19" with a 17.5" seat height, Kiera is sized for entryways, dressing rooms, or the foot of a bed where something extraordinary is needed to finish the room.
