Prominata Aiko 59" Leatherette Metal Powder Coat Bench

Prominata started with a sketch that had more air in it than material. The brief was simple: design a bench where the frame is as important as the seat. Not hidden beneath it. Not supporting it from behind. But visible, present, and part of the visual conversation.

The Black Powder Coat Mild Steel frame is an open rectangle, a continuous loop of flat bar steel that forms two side panels connected by a low stretcher. The geometry is deliberate. Straight lines, right angles, no curves. It reads as a frame in the literal sense, like something you would hang on a wall, except this one sits on the floor and holds a cushion.

The seat is Leatherette Ply & Foam Upholstery in a deep forest green that darkens in low light and glows in natural light. The leatherette has a soft, slightly waxy hand feel that mimics the warmth of genuine leather without the maintenance. It wipes clean, resists cracking, and develops a subtle patina over time that makes it look better, not worse, with age. The cushion is divided into two zones: a long rectangular seat and a connected circular ottoman at one end, creating an asymmetric profile that gives the bench a personality most symmetrical designs lack.

The circular end is not a footrest. It is not a side table. It is a second seat, a place to perch, to set a tray, or to simply enjoy the fact that not everything in a room needs to be explained. It hangs slightly over the frame edge, supported by its own internal structure, which gives it a floating quality that plays against the rigidity of the steel beneath.

At 59" x 20" with an 18" seat height, Aiko is sized for the foot of a king bed, a wide hallway, or a living room where the bench is not an accessory but a statement.
