Bowden Opal 69" Colonial Pine Pluto Texture Media-Console

Bowden started with a frustration that every homeowner knows. The TV unit. It is usually the largest piece of furniture in the living room and almost always the ugliest. Either it is a massive wall unit that swallows the room, or it is a flimsy board on legs that looks like it came free with the television.

We wanted something in between. Something with enough storage to hide cables, remotes, and set top boxes, but low and clean enough to not dominate the wall it sits against.

The carcass is Colonial Pine Pre Laminated MDF with Pluto Texture, a surface that mimics the warmth of real wood grain without the maintenance anxiety. The shutters on either side open to reveal shelved storage, while the open centre section keeps everyday items within reach. The Black Powder Coat Mild Steel base runs the full length of the unit, giving it an industrial edge that keeps the design from feeling too domestic.

At 69" wide, Bowden fills the space below a large screen without overpowering it. It is the supporting act that makes the whole wall work.
