Onion Elide 21" Gold Metal Gold Metal Dining-Chair

Onion started with a conviction that the dining chair has been timid for too long. Neutral fabrics. Black metal legs. Safe shapes that blend into the background and let the table do all the work. We wanted a chair that refused to be a supporting act.

The seat and backrest are both upholstered in Sarom Montero 817, a deep teal fabric with a velvety hand feel that shifts between blue and green depending on how the light hits it. The backrest is an oversized oval, deliberately asymmetric, shaped like a pebble smoothed by water rather than a perfect circle. It floats above the seat with a visible gap that lets the gold frame breathe through, giving the chair a lightness that belies its generous proportions.

The Gold PVD Stainless Steel 304 Matt frame is the architectural counterpoint. Where the upholstery is soft and organic, the frame is angular and precise. Thin rods rise vertically from a cross braced base, holding the seat and backrest like a gallery holds a painting. The matte gold finish avoids the flashiness of polished brass while retaining all of its warmth. It does not gleam. It glows.

At 21" x 20" with a 19" seat height, Onion is sized for long dinners and comfortable conversation. The round seat cradles without gripping, and the backrest supports without forcing posture. It is the chair that makes guests ask where you found it before the first course arrives.
